HISTORICAL ORIGINS
The Roumier accent chair reflects the luxury of a 1788 French armchair in the Met’s collection. The original was one of 16 armchairs commissioned by master chairmaker Georges Jacob (French, 1739–1814) for Louis XVI’s playroom at Saint Cloud. Our dining chair pays homage to the neoclassical elegance and meticulous craftsmanship of Jacob’s designs.
